About Us

NB Pet Trusts is committed to providing a full range of pet trust services to caring pet owners. In addition to being ardent animal lovers, Linda and Kevin are both accomplished animal law attorneys with the knowledge and expertise to help you provide for your loyal animal companions in the event of your death or disability.

Linda J. Niedweske, Esq.

Linda J. Niedweske graduated from the University of Vermont in 1977 with a B.S. degree in Animal Sciences and from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA in 1988.

As an attorney, she has handled many animal-related matters, including those involving the vicious dog bite statute, the rights of the disabled, elderly and public housing tenants to have companion animals in their apartments, tenants facing eviction because of their pets, animal neglect and cruelty, problems arising from feral cat colonies and “collectors” of dogs and cats.

She represented the New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance on the Watchung Reservation Deer Management Committee, and since 2000 has been co-trustee of New Jersey Lawyers in Defense of Animals, an organization that focuses on animal rescue/adoption and pro bono advocacy of animals in the courts.

Linda has been an animal advocate for the past thirty years, and has helped hundreds of homeless animals find foster or adoptive homes, including those orphaned by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

A true animal lover, she oversees a family of six cats (two of whom live in her office), one dog and four birds.

Kevin E. Barber, Esq.

Kevin E. Barber is a 1989 graduate of the United States Military Academy. After completing his military training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and stationed in various places around the world, most notably Kuwait, where he proudly served his country during Operation Desert Storm.

After an honorable discharge, Kevin enrolled in Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, NJ, graduating in 1996.

Kevin is a strong animal advocate, and has litigated frequently on behalf of animals in his day-to-day role as a litigator. For example, he has argued before the New Jersey Appellate Court against the Bear Hunt, has filed suit against Huntington Life Sciences demanding that they adhere to federal humane guidelines involving experimentation with animals, and has brought a New Jersey animal shelter to trial for violating a State statute involving treatment of abandoned animals.

Kevin is the proud caregiver of two rescue dogs, Leah and Liberty.
