When choosing the trust amount you wish to set aside, it’s a good idea to do a cost analysis to determine your monthly spending on food, veterinary care, etc. You also will need to decide how you want to finance your trust, either by setting aside money on a periodic basis now or by financing the trust out of your estate, in which case you would have to make an interim provision until the estate funding became available. This can be as simple as designating the sale of a portion of your personal property before your will is probated. You can also pre-arrange for a sale of this type in the event you become disabled. NB Pet Trusts offers three service options, ranging from a do-it-yourself version to a more personalized level of service.
You don’t have to be a millionaire!
Trust funds conjure images of wealthy aristocrats and privileged lifestyles. However, anyone can create an NB Pet Trust. You don’t need a lot of money: you need only the desire to provide for your faithful companions and the willingness to take a few simple steps to ensure their secure future.
Choose the Trust that works best for you.
Silver Trust $125 (our most popular trust)
This is a do-it-yourself packet of documents that are legally enforceable in all states. Simply fill out the forms specifying your wishes, sign the trust document before the required number of witnesses and have it notarized. Have your attorney review and keep your trust on file. Keep a copy with your will and other records.
Gold Trust $250
You fill out the care instructions and forward to us for review. If anything is unclear or we foresee potential problems, we’ll make sure they’re corrected or clarified. We’ll then forward the standard pet trust document and return copies to you for your attorney, trustee and caregiver. Sign all copies before the required number of witnesses, have it notarized and distribute copies accordingly.
Platinum Trust $500
Our most comprehensive level of service includes a one-hour meeting or phone consultation to review your care instructions and trustee and caregiver choices and to resolve any outstanding issues or complications. We then provide you with a customized trust based on this meeting. Services beyond this scope, including acting as your trustee,* are subject to additional fees.
